Calculate your Grade Point Average for school or college

About the GPA Calculator

Your Grade Point Average (GPA) is calculated by dividing the total number of grade points earned by the total number of credit hours attempted. Each letter grade corresponds to a value on the standard 4.0 scale: an A equals 4.0, a B equals 3.0, a C equals 2.0, a D equals 1.0, and an F equals 0.0. Plus and minus modifiers adjust the value by roughly 0.3 points in either direction.

To use this calculator, add each of your courses along with the grade you received and the number of credit hours. The tool multiplies each grade value by its credit weight, sums everything up, and divides by total credits to produce your semester or cumulative GPA. You can add as many courses as you need.

GPA matters for many important milestones. College admissions committees use high school GPA as a primary factor in evaluating applicants. Many scholarships require a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher. Employers in competitive fields often review GPA when screening entry-level candidates. Keeping track of your GPA each semester helps you set academic goals and identify courses where you may need additional support.
